ERP Deployment for an International Group

Performance Improvement | Duration: 18 months

Objective: Deploy an ERP system across 12 African subsidiaries of a Swiss group with 2 managers

Context: A Swiss group initiated a global rollout of the Sage X3 ERP system. During the height of the COVID-19 crisis, preparations were underway to deploy the ERP across its sub-Saharan African subsidiaries. Due to travel restrictions, only regional managers could cross borders and operate on-site. Beyond technical challenges and managing the integrator, there were key issues around engaging finance teams to implement the core model and assess necessary exceptions.

NIMSwitzerland’s solution: NIMSwitzerland leveraged its ecosystem in Nigeria to form a duo from its African talent pool. A Cameroonian expert with deep knowledge of Sage X3 and its code, and a Nigeria-based manager with a financial background and two successful ERP projects under his belt, took charge of the transformation.

Outcome: Following an adjustment phase of the core model and a cultural alignment between Africa and Switzerland, key deployment materials, training sessions, and user tests were rolled out in the first two countries. Lessons learned from these initial implementations helped refine the next two deployments, paving the way for a more industrialized rollout that continued through the end of 2022.
