Objective: Regain control of a metals trading back office
Mission Description: A Franco-Swiss metals trading company had outsourced its back office to an external provider. Over time, discrepancies with the front office emerged and persisted, leading to a loss of trust and poor visibility. The company needed an expert capable of taking back control of the back-office function, reinternalizing it with strong capital markets expertise and specific technical skills—such as handling Bloomberg data processing.
NIMSwitzerland’s solution: Given the hands-on nature of the role, a highly skilled individual contributor was required. NIMSwitzerland focused on candidates in its pool who remained technically sharp and less focused on team management. Only one suitable manager was identified and proposed.
Outcome: “He did in 15 days what the provider had owed me for a year,” exclaimed the client during the first monthly review. The restored trust was such that the manager quickly became indispensable. A recruitment agreement was reached, and the manager —based locally in Geneva— joined the company permanently.
